John Marshall Willis is from Tallahassee, FL where he received his Bachelor's degree in Choral Music Education at Florida State University. He also holds a Master's Degree in Choral Conducting from The University of Arizona in Tucson. It was in Tucson that he studied composition under Pamela Decker.

John Marshall Willis was invited to be an Artist in Residence at Midwestern State University of Texas in Wichita Falls and was commissioned to write a composition for the Midwestern State University Singers. He was also commissioned by The Central Texas Honor Choir.

He currently resides in Hinesville, GA where he teaches Chorus and Music Theory at Bradwell Institute.
